Body Scrub vs Body Lotion: Which One Comes First?

It’s a simple question that trips a lot of people up. You’ve got a body scrub and a body lotion, and only one shower. Which goes first?

Scrub first, lotion last. Here’s why, and how to make the pair work.

Why the order matters

A scrub removes the dull, dry layer sitting on top of your skin. Lotion then has fresh, clear skin to sink into. Do it the other way around and you’re scrubbing off the moisturizer you just applied.

Step 1: Scrub on damp skin

Kawar’s Dead Sea Body Scrub uses Dead Sea sand and mineral salts to buff away dead skin and dirt. It also has argan oil and glycerin so your skin doesn’t feel stripped, and chamomile to calm things after.

  1. Wet your skin in the shower.
  2. Take a small amount and massage in gentle circles for one to five minutes.
  3. Focus on rough spots like elbows, knees and shins.
  4. Rinse well with warm water.

Go lighter on sensitive areas, and keep the massage short.

How often should you scrub?

For most people, once or twice a week is enough. More isn’t better. Overdoing it leaves skin tight and irritated, which defeats the point. If you’re using it as part of a body routine for firmer-looking skin, regular gentle use matters more than pressure.

Step 2: Lotion right after

Pat dry, then moisturize while your skin is still slightly damp. The Body Lotion with Ceramides is a good match here. It has ceramides to support the skin barrier, glycerin and aloe for moisture, plus argan and almond oils. It absorbs fast and doesn’t leave a greasy film.

Apply it daily, and reapply on extra-dry spots as needed.

A simple weekly plan

  • Two days a week: scrub, then lotion.
  • Every other day: wash with the Shower Gel, then lotion.
  • Hands: add a hand cream since they don’t get the same care.

FAQ

Can I scrub every day?
Not if you’re exfoliating physically. Daily scrubbing is too much for most skin.

Should I scrub before or after shaving?
Before. Scrubbing after shaving can irritate freshly shaved skin.

Do I need both?
Not strictly, but they work as a pair. The scrub clears, the lotion keeps the softness.
